How Dice Are Made?
Dice are simple, but do you really know how the dice are made? This article will tell you how the dice are made from raw material to perfect dice.
SUPC was founded in 2007. Has over 13 years of professional experience in manufacturing dice.
1. Material
Raw material are the key to producing high-quality dice. We use brand-new acrylic to ensure the material meet toy safety standards. Acrylic, which is crystal and pure, features small shrinkage and easily to control the size, shape and weight in the production process. All raw materials need to reduce moisture before production in order to prevent excess moisture while melting. Dice with bubbles or swollen are all regarded as rejects in SUPC’s standards.
2. Color Matching and Injection
Technicians mix specified color strictly following color formula. To ensure pigmentation is accurate and well-proportioned. We compare to PANTONE color continuously. After confirming color, workers pour the material into injection machine, then inject it to the mold in a melted state with high pressure in seconds. The machine opens and pushes out the product, cooling and shaping. The semi-finished dice are ready for the next process.
3. Polishing Sharp Edges and Corners
The sharp edges and corners must be polished after injection. With continuous impact and friction for 8-16 hours on the 200 RPM grinding drum. 20,000 dices can be polished at once.
4. Coloring
When the rough polishing is finished, the dice will be colored on the paint machine. The machine can accurately identify the position of each point on the dice and paint the color on each dice accurately and quickly. In the past, all the dice were painting by hand. Now, SUPC switched to automatic painting machines, increasing output 100,000 painted dice per day. Around 6 times faster than traditional process! Compared to traditional hand painting, this is a revolutionary process.
We then put the dice into the grinding drum again, keep washing for 8 hours to clean the excess paint. At this stage, the timing must be precisely controlled. Over-time washing will clean out all paints on dice.
Next, we will polish the dice for the third time to let the surface shiny. This process takes another 16 hours to complete. At last, an exquisite and bright dice come out.
In response to different order requirements, we can use different materials to produce the dice. If customers do not want to pay cost of mold for small quantity order, we can also provide engraved dice and risen dice. No MOQ and low mold cost, more suitable for small quantity dice orders.
If customers need heavier dice, we can apply UREA. This material weight much heavier than acrylic. The tiles of Domino and RUMMY are made by UREA.
SUPC has always insisted on developing new dice molds. We can provide customers with more than 60 existing molds for free, such as from 5mm to 30mm regular dice and solid, transparent, mix color, pearl, glitter, and many more. Blank, Heat transfer and silk printing are available for custom orders.
